Chashma Ayub

According to the Islamic story that the Prophet Ayub (Job) came to the Zerafshan Valley and saw a devastating drought that caused many people died, he struck his staff on the dusty ground and created a well (chashmeh) of sweet water. Since then, people have believed that the water has healing power. In memory of the Job's miracle, built around the 12th century, the Chashma Ayub, also known as the Spring of Job, now we see the site located quite near to the Ismael Samani Mausoleum, is without any decoration. The chashmeh and its complex are being reverenced by the locals given to the fact that water resource is scarce in the arid climate, which idea is applied to the Museum of Water-Supply History.
