Ulugbek Madrassah

Ulugbek Madrassah (Islamic school) was established in 1420, this date as an inscription is documented on the gate's bronze plate. There is also a notable inscription at the entrance runs "Pursuing knowledge is a duty of each Muslim man and woman". Built by the order of the grandson of Amir Temur of Ulugbek (died in 1449), the school is not large that consists of two stories of hudjras (classroom for Islamic pupils), a religious service hall, and a mosque. The hudjras surrounds a tranquil courtyard. It should be noted that, initially, the Ulugbek Madrassah had four domes and four minarets in corners, but damaged later; and the restored façades that now we see were decorated with majolica.
