is located in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province
. Its name is derived from the fact that there are nine Tibetan villages ("zhai" in Chinese) with a valley of the Baihe River besides. The average elevation of the scenic area is 2000 m above the sea level. It has primeval forests with 108 crystal clear lakes and varieties of colorful pools and beautiful falls, so the place is sometimes known as the "Fairyland" by the locals. A lot of rare animals can be found here such as giant panda
, golden monkey and spotted dear. The Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic Area is enlisted in the "World's Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO in 1992.
