Luzhi

Luzhi

Luzhi is well known in China as “the best town in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.” This town has a history about 2500 years. The old Chinese culture, interesting places, arch stone bridges and gates, old Chinese houses and a maidenhair tree of 1300-year old make Luzhi become a bright pearl in tour of China.

When you step into Luzhi  located in Kunshan city and about 25 km east of Suzhou, you may have a special feeling about these scenes. There is a beautiful but remote river flowing through the town. One of the Luzhi’s characteristics is that there are many bridges and arch gates in this town. So the other name of this town is “the bridge kingdom”. Luzhi just covers an area about 1 sq. km, but there are more than 70 bridges of different shapes in the town. The other good thing is the maidenhair trees. There are 7 maidenhair trees in this town. Three of these trees are more than 800 years old. The highest one is more than 50m in height, it is still straight and strong today !
