Tillya Sheikh Mosque

The Tillya Sheikh Mosque was built in the year 1890 by a virtuous merchant Tillya Sheikh Ata who did Chinese sheep selling in Uzbekistan. He built the mosque after receiving donated funds, and after completion he urged the pious Muslim followers to pray there. Today the mosque has a large Islamic library which collects ancient handwriting documents, including the 1,200 years old Osman Koran, which is one of the world oldest copies. It is recommended to have a brief visit to the 16th century Barakkhan Madrassah located opposite to the mosque, and the Kaffalya Shashi Mausoleum situated to the north of the complex. They are beautiful and magnificent.
