East Great Mountain : Tai Shan

Mount Tai, known as the eastern mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China, is a mountain of historical and cultural significance located north of the city of Tai'an, in Shandong province, China. It is often regarded the foremost of the five. Mount Tai has been a place with a history of 3,000 years and served as one of the most important ceremonial centers of China. There are many cultural relics left on the mountain, such as the Great Deity of Mount Tai and Bixia Yuanjun, attracting many tourists to visit annually.

West Great Mountain : Hua Shan

Mount Hua is a mountain located near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi province, about 120 kilometres east of Xi'an. It is the western mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China, and has a long history of religious significance. It is renowned for its steep terrain. Besides, at the foot of the mountain stands the largest temple in southern China, the Grand Temple of Mount Heng , which is the largest group of ancient buildings in Hunan Province.

North Great Mountain: Heng Shan (Shanxi)

Mount Heng is a mountain in north-central China's Shanxi Province, which is considered a scared mountain. Unlike other mountains with strong and long history, due to its far-off location, Mount Heng has a weaker history of pilgrimage. And because of its dangerous topography, it is the least-visited and least-developed of the five mountains.

Center Great Mountain : Song Shan

Mount Song is a mountain in central China's Henan Province, along the southern bank of the Yellow River, that is known as the central mountain of the Five Great Mountains of China. It is a breeding place for Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. It is also home to the Shaolin Temple, traditionally considered the birthplace of Zen Buddhism, and the temple's collection of pagoda forest is the largest in China.
