Description :This Tibet tour itinerary designed specially for those who are interested in mysticism, totemism, Tibetan Buddhism and pantheism. The whole journey lasts 8 days (2000km) and covers two major areas Lhasa and Nyingchi. You will spend long driving time in go-anywhere vehicle between Lhasa and Nyingchi but with incredible amazing views along the road, such as green forests, snow mountains, herds of sheep and yaks as well as rivers, waterfall and lakes.

Day 1

Lhasa   (No meal included)

Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar International Airport, you will be greeted by your local English-speaking tour guide at the gate of the luggage claim area and drive you to your hotel. Or if you arrive by trainour tour guide will meet you at the railway station. It takes approximately one hour from the airport to the hotel, and half an hour from the train station. On the way, the tour guide will introduce the Tibetan customs and local situations, and tell you some travel dos & don’ts.
When you arrive at the hotel, the tour guide will assist you at check in. The rest of the day is free for you explore on your own. If youare fit and healthythen you can take a taxi to the Potala Palace Square to appreciate the Potala at night. Compared with daytime view, it is more mysterious. However, if your health is not so good we suggest having a good rest at the hotel to acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 2

Attractions to be visited: Potala Palace, Norbulingka and Drepung Monastery
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and then head for Potala Palace, the landmark of Lhasa.Founded in 637 by SongtsanGambo (the dominator of Tibet in the Tufan Dynasty) to greet his two wives Chizun a princess from Nepal and Wencheng a princess ofthe Tang Dynasty, it was rebuilt in 17th centuryand has since been enlarged by generations of resident Dalai Lamas. Standing at the foot of palace, you cannot help applauding how magnificent it is.
There are plenty of precious treasures inside of the palace, such as murals, thangka, Buddha statues and pagodas of Dalai Lamas. In order to protect the Potala Palace the daily number of tourists is limited, with each tourist allowed one hour inside the palace. Later on you will be taken to the Norbulingkaa summer palace of Dalai Lamas anda typical Tibetan-styleclassical garden.
After lunch, proceed to the Drepung Monastery. Comfortable shoes are suggested as you will do a lot of walking inside of the monastery. The highlight of this monastery is the meaningful murals. At the annual Shoton festival a grand ceremony of exposing the Buddha to the sun is held here.

Day 3

Attractions to be visited: Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Street and Sera Monastery
Today you will visit different monasteries. After breakfast, you will be taken to the Jokhang Monastery, which was built in year 647 by the Tufan Dynasty. As a world cultural site, you will find the life-size statue of Sakyamuni, which is brought by PrincessWencheng from the Tang Dynasty. The founder of Buddhism stands there to accept the prayers and worship from his pious disciples. With a history of more than 1300 years, the Jokhang Temple has paramount position in Tibetan Buddhism. It is the most splendid Tofan architecture, full of Tibetan, Tang, Nepalese and Indian designs.Here, you will see many people gathering and starting to kowtow or circle.
Later, visit Barkhor Street outside of the Jokhang Temple. Originally, it was the road stamped out by the Buddhists’ circling, now it is a street for buying souvenirs. Enjoy your free time here.
After lunch, proceed to Sera Monastery, which was completed in 1434. A highlight of visiting here is the sutra-debate. Around 3:00pm, in the courtyard under the shadow of the trees lamas are divided into groups, some sitting and some standingto start the impassioned sutra-debate with long speeches, gestures and messages. You might not understand what they are talking about but you will definitely be impressed by their devotion. Afterwards you will be taken back to your hotel.

Day 4

Lhasa -> Nyingchi   (B, L)

Route: Lhasa- Dagzê County-Meldrogongkar County-Milha Mountain-Bajietang Grassland -Nyang River- Gongbo’gvamda County-Kadinggou Waterfall-Bayi town (the main town in Nyingchi area)
Attractions to be visited: Basom Tso Lake& Kadinggou Water fall

Distance of driving in total: 490km, 7.5-8 hrs with asphalt roads
Comments of the route: Good road conditions, with amazing and incredible views. You get stop to take photos wherever and whenever you like, but make sure the driver and tour guide think it is safe.

After Lhasa, you are going to explore the southeast of Tibet. Your destination is Nyingchi, known for its natural views and lower altitude. Setting off after your breakfast, you will pass through two counties before arriving at Milha Mountain.The altitude of Milha Mountain is 5013m and you can take photos from the top before proceeding back down the mountain. On the way, you will have Bajietang grassland and Nyang River as views to accompany you. After having lunch at the foot of Milha Mountain you will be driven to the Basom Tso Lake, which is a plateau lake surrounded by virgin forest.
The water of the lake mirrors the blue sky, white clouds, green trees and snow covered mountains around; there are no words to describe the incredible views in front of you. It is not just a simple lake; it is also a holy one for Tibetan Buddhists. There is a temple on the island on the lake that was built 1500 years ago.
Kadinggou Waterfall, which is actually composed of two waterfalls, is located in the Kadinggou Valley. The miracle of this waterfall is that tourists will see a natural Buddha behind the flowing water.
After seeing these breathtaking sights, you will be taken to the main town of Nyingchi.

Day 5

Route: Bayi Town-Segrila Mountain- Namjagbarwa Peak-Lulang Forest Sea-Pailong- Tangmai-GuXiang- Bome

Distance of driving in total: 380 km (340km Alphalt road and 40 km bumpy road) 6-7 hrs,
Starting from Bayi town you are going to cross the other high mountain named Segrila Mountain (4702m). It is said that the Segrila is a palette spilt by the gods. You can find many colors on this mountain. If it is mid-April to the end of the June you will find azaleas blanketing the mountain. After 2.5 hours you will arrive at the observation deck where you can take photographs of the fantastic views of the Namjagbarwa Peak (7782m). According to the National Geographic in China, it ranks number one among all the mountains of China. And for Tibetans it is the father of all the snow covered mountains. The YarlungTsangpo River is a jade band surrounding the mountain and flows far away.
Continue on toLulang Forest Sea. Lulang in Tibetan language means the Valley of King Dragon. Dense spruces and pines, grasslands with thousands of wild flowers, wooden inns and bridges, and Tibetan villages all form a natural picture here. Enjoy your lunch inLulang Town.
In the afternoon, pass the PailongMenba Ethnic County and Tongmai. The soil of the Tongmai area is soft, and if it rains or snows sometimes a mud-rock flow will happen, and that is why Tongmai is called the natural barrier. After this bumpy ride you will arrive at Bome; an ideal place for photographers and painters.

Day 6

Nyingchi   (B, L)

Route: Bome Zhamu Town-Songzong Town -Zhongba County- Midui Glacier-Rawu Lake
Attractions to be visited: Midui Glacier & Rawu Lake

Distance of driving in total: 150 km, 4 hrs

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be driven to Rawu. The road conditions from Bome to Zhongba County are good; all are asphalt except the bumpy road fromZhongba to Rawu. After around two hours’ driving you will arrive at Midui Glacier, the most beautiful one in China, which is a confluence of two world-level ice falls. There are two ways that you can get close to see the glacier after you arrive at the Midui Village. One is on horseback and the other is hiking. If you choose horse riding the fee is around USD 18–33 per person. The single way distance is around 2.5 km, but you can go nearer by hiking if you are interested. Not only the snow-white ice but also the green of the virgin forest will fill your eyes with a beautiful scene. Crystal-clear glacial basins and cliffs are gleaming; and lower down the glacier spreads and extends into the lush tropical evergreen broad-leafed forest. These are perfectly matched views of snowcapped mountains, glacier, forest and lakes!
Continue driving to Rawa Lake; the headstream of ParlungZangbo. The Rawa Lake is the result of extrusion by three mountain ranges. More than ten Tibetan villages are distributed around the upper and lower Rawa Lake. The materials of their houses are made from tree bark or thatch. So it is very indigenous.

Day 7

Nyingchi   (B, L)

Attractions to be visited: Cuomujiri Lake ( a moraine lake)

Today you journey back to Nyingchi. You will return the same way you came and enjoy the views along the road. The highlight of the tour will be in the afternoon. You will pay a visit to the Cuomujiri Lake – a moraine lake, which is located in the northwest of Bayi Town. In Tibetan language it means the Tear of a Bodhisattva. With many legends related to Bodhisattva the lake is regarded respectfully as the holy place in the Gongbu area. Visit Gongbu Manor the site of ancient temples and Potala Holy Mountain before being returned to your hotel.

Day 8

Today is the last day of your Tibet tour. But before leaving there is still one amazing place you need to see on your way to the Nyingchi airport.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be driven to the junction of the YarlungTsangpo River and Nyang River.In Tibetan language river is called qu and Nyang River is considered as the mother river in the Gongbu area. Respectfully, Tibetans call it Mother Qu, which means the Tear of the Goddess. Here you will see the clear Nyang River and muddy Yarlung flowing together.
