Five Great Lakes in China
As we all know, the world-renowned five great lakes in America is beautiful and providing American the rich water resource. In the Asia, exactly in China, there are also five great lakes, but they are all the fresh-water lakes and they are also providing the rich resources and treasure to the local people. Besides, they are also offering the great help to nurture Chinese great civilization. The five great lakes in China are comprised of Dongting Lake, Poyang Lake, Taihu Lake, Hongze Lake and Chaohu Lake.
Dongting Lake is one of Chinese five great fresh-water lakes. It is an important lake taking in and sending out in large quantities beside Yangtze River. Dongting Lake is located the southern part of Jing River and crossing Hunan province and Hubei province. The beautiful natural and cultural landscape around the lake and many types of scenery belong to the state key scenic spots, such as: Yueyang Tower, Jun Mountain, Tu Fu Tomb, Qu Yuan Temple and so on. It also experiences a long history and accumulates lots of great gems in culture and history rather than its great lake landscape.
Poyang Lake is the important international marsh. It is the important lake for flood-control and drought –relief. It is playing the great role in preservation of bio-diversity. It is one of ten ecological protection areas. Poyang Lake is also one of the important global ecological zones chosen by the World Wildlife Fund and it is also important for national ecological safety. The areas around Poyang Lake are the rich places in the old days and many outstanding celebrities lived here. Poyang Lake is Devil Triangle and Chinese Bermuda. Many unbelievable events happened here. On 16th April 1945(during the period of anti-Japanese war of the World War Two), Japanese transport ship "Kobe pill" sailed to the Laoyemiao northwest waters of Poyang Lake in Jiangxi Province suddenly disappeared quietly, and over 200 sailors were all died. Afterwards, special people sent by Japanese Navy went to this lake to investigate what happened via sneaking into lake. All the members all disappeared except one person who was later troubled in lunacy after he took off his swimsuit. After 1945, American notable diving expert, Edward spent several months in investigating, but later his several members also disappeared unreasonably.
Taihu Lake is the third largest fresh-water lake in China It is also one of the famous scenic areas in southern China. The famous cities like Suzhou, Wuxi, Huzhou are around it. The agriculture here is very advanced and called to be the Barn of China. It is also one of the great water channels to connect Jiangsu province and Zhejiang province.
Hongze Lake is situated in the northern part of Jiangsu Province. It is far less popular than Taihu Lake in the southern Jiangsu Province. However, it connect the Huaihe River, Yangzte River and flows towards Yellow Sea. It guarantees the water-supply for the agriculture and people’s lives.
Chaohu Lake is located in the middle of Anhui Province. It is famous for its bird-nest-like profile. Chaohu Lake belongs to the Yangtze River water system. The water of Chaohu Lake flows out from Chao County to Yangtze River via Yuxi River. It is the fifth largest fresh-water lake in China with the area of 820 square kilometers. Thanks to its good water system, the people lived around it are benefited from its help and watering. The area of Chaohu Lake is the perfect rice-production area.
