Nanchang is the provincial capital of Jiangxi Province. It is one of 35 biggest cities in China. It has the good fame as the heavenly place. To be a historical and cultural city of China, it has 2200-year history and culture. Nanchang is a typical waterside city in southern area of China. It is also the ensign-rising place. For many times, it is awarded to be the national sanitary city, the nationwide advanced city in sanitation, Chinese excellent tourism city and so on.
Nanchang is located in the midstream or downstream of Yangtze River and the southwest side of Poyanghu Lake. It is a province neighboring to Yangtze River Delta, Zhujiang River Delta and Southeast Economic Area of Fujiang Province. The railways like Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway and Anhui-Jiangxi Railway which are the national main rail-lines are all in Jiangxi Province. Nanchang is the only city lying on Beijing-Kowloon Railway. In the aspect of the expressway, the national highway No.105, No.320, and No.316 are crossing this city. The planes from Changbei International Airport can go to any major city of China.
Nanchang belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon climate. It is mild and humid, and daytime longer in summer and shorter in spring and autumn. Nanchang is a typical city that hot in summer and cold in winter. It has nickname of firepot in summer. Nanchang has many scenic spots. There are more than 600 cultural relics, 18 historical sites and 26 natural attractions. In 1986, it was validated to be national cultural and historical city. There are 50 cultural-relic protection units in different levels
To be the distributing center for tour, travelers could go Poyanghu Lake Bird Reserve, Lushan Mountain (World Geological Park), Jingdezhen (the Porcelain Capital of China), Sanqingshan Mountain (the holy land of Taoism), Nanchang August-1 Uprising headquarters site, Zhu De Military-officer education site, Zhu De Former Residence and so on. On August 1, 1927, the communist-party leader such as Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, He Long, Yeting and Liu Bocheng organized the striking uprising in Nanchang, and it was the first time that Communist Party resisted the crackdown of Kuomintang by force. Now there is a Memorial of Nanchang Uprising. Currently, a red tour itinerary comprised of old site of Nanchang Uprising, Jiangxi Martyr Memorial, August-1 Uprising Monument and so on.
Nanchang is a famous cultural and historical city. There is a famous cultural building featuring Chinese traditional architectural style. It is named Tengwangge, which used to be the destination for learners or scholars’ literary meeting and communication place. Wangbo was the first man of Tang Dynasty famed this building via his long and classic essay” Tengwange Prologue”. It is one of Three Greatest Southern Buildings, the other two are Yueyanglou and Huanghelou in respective. It is a nine-storey building with the 12-meter building base.
The main food of Nanchang civilians is rice; the meat they eat includes pork, beef, chicken, duck, goose and so on. Before 1980, people in town and city lived by coal-burning and brushwood or grasses in countryside. Later, the gas-line and liquidized gas were used for daily life in town or city but coal used in countryside. In the village, villagers are used to making rice drink, salting the pork and so on. Pork is the major meat-food. The general cooling styles include: stir-frying, baking, brazing, steaming and frying, and the sauce including ginger, garlic, shallot and pepper. During the festival period, meat, chicken, duck and eggs are available. Nanchang dish belongs to the Jiangxi Cuisine, and is one of the three local dishes in Jiangxi Province.
