Yunnan Ethnic Village: one village, 26 tribes


Hailing from the suburb of Kunming, Yunnan Ethnic Village is located within Haigeng Park. It is a kaleidoscope of 26 ethnicities calling Yunnan home. Xishuangbanna: Buddhism’s Oasis

Xizhou Ancient Town: Bai people's Architecture Museum


Hailing from Dali city, Yunnan, Xizhou Ancient Town houses the biggest collection and best-preserved Bai folk residences in China. Prepare a pair of comfortable shoes and a camera; you will capture the most stunning photos here. Distinguished by zigzagging courtyard layout, the liberal use of wooden, brick and stone carvings of peerless craftsmanship and elegant paintings, Bai architecture reveals the harmonious profusion of Han culture and Bai ethnic philosophy. For globetrotter foodies, you can jump with joy that Xizhou offers such a wide selection of food, from the famous snacks named Xizhou Baba(local version of pisa) to the delicious Bai Hotpot Fish. On the second day of the first lunar month, Benzhu Festival will wake up this sleep beauty with a joyful riot of people, costumes, parade, singing, dancing and worship rituals. Butterfly Meeting falling on the third lunar month will see young Bai people gather here to find their soul mates. literally means “a lagoon filled with fish and shrimp” in Yi language, Puzhehei is an unspoiled paradise with sublime Karst landscape and captivating multi-ethnic cultures. In a land encompassing 165km2, over 300 peaks, 80 caves, 83 lakes and 20km-long understand rivers predominate. Zhuang, Miao and Yi people spice this pristine heaven up with colorful festivals and events which fill the whole year. The best way to see Puzhehei’s sights and splendor, undoubtedly, is to hop on a canoe. This 4 to 5 hour cuisine along the crisscrossing watercourses, promises the most soothing, refreshing and memorable trip of lifetime. Bingzhongluo


Located 43km from Gongshan County, the northwest tip of Yunnan, Bingzhongluo is the place nearest to Buddha and God. It is a place where Yunnan greets Tibet and Nu, Tibetan, Lisu and Derung people co-exist. (Numbered only 5500 people, Derung is the smallest minority in China). The village spreads over the valley bordering Biluo Snow Mountain to the east and Galigong Mountain to the west. The spectacular scenery of snow peaks and deep valleys constitute half of the charm, while the other half, lies in its fascinating dwellers and their religions: Buddhism, Christian and Catholicism. In Bingzhognluo, chance will be that you will encounter a local visiting a church in the morning, spinning the pray wheels in the afternoon and chanting the bible with Lisu language during night. Today, its veiled beauty gains recognition thanks to some intrepid travelers.

From October to May, the heavy snow will cut this place from outside world till spring sets in. Walking along the rattan net bridge and experience the worship ceremony dating to tribe society, trekking and camping are must-dos here.
