Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
Our trip with this China travel company was overall a very pleasant and memorable experience. The tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly and pleasant to be around and all but one spoke very good English. However, I do feel that for those over 65 years old, I would recommend that you offer some alternatives to the heavy walking or climbing sites (such as Moon Hill - I would have preferred to see a cave where we did not have to walk up over 800 steps!).

The hotels were all satisfactory (not four *, more like 3*), except for the one in Guilin, which was not acceptable - and I did give them this feedback.

All in all, I was very please with this tour package and would recommend it to others.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
The most memorable parts were:

1) The Great Wall
2) The Terra Cotta Warriors
3) The River trip from Guilin to Yangshou
4) Forbidden City & Tienanmin Square & Summer Palace
5) Muslim Street in Xian
6) We really liked some of special personal things like - Taking Taichi lessons from a master, Taking a cooking class from a Chinese chef.
7) Hong Kong was awesome - It would have been nice to have at least one full day of tours in this city!

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?
For the money it was excellent and I would not change it too much - I would recommend that you just try to offer  better hotels and maybe offer one or two dinners somewhere along the 12 day tour.

Dear Eric,

As you said I have just arrived of a memorable tour. Of course I am still tired of the flight that is too long and we are recovering. I can give you my first impressions but later I will give a more detailed report after an exchange of opinions with my colleagues.

About the tour organization here are my first impressions:

The schedule was very well organized, trying to fill our time with visits to interesting points. If we were younger we would like to spend more time exploring the geo-park, visiting less accessible tiankengs and contacting with local people. May be another time. The guides are very professional and friendly and I think in the end we establish a true friendship.

Frankly, we find the driving of the first driver a little aggressive with some moments less secure, like over passing in curves, etc. On the contrary, Mrs Shi was much more defensive and will fill more secure. About the hotels all went well without problems and they are very good. The food was very good but naturally in the end we start to miss the Portuguese cuisine. We like specially the food in small restaurants in villages. Travelling by train was a good experience and all connections were in time. We were surprised by the trains station of Nanning (almost bigger than our Lisbon airport). I visited Guilin in 1984 and the difference is overwhelming. In that timer there wasn’t cars, nor scooters, and the tourists are in general Chinese people from other parts of China or from Hong Kong. Of course in those times all was much more peaceful and quiet.

You can be sure that if I have the opportunity of organize another trip to China I will hire your services.

Please convey my heartily regards to the guides and drivers. I hope that next time I can meet you.

Best regards

Dear Christina,

We were back home. We would like to thank you for arranging such a wonderful tour for us. My detailed review of the trip is as below.

What countries did you visit?
Korea, South China

Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
We were SO very pleased with every aspect of our trip. Our agent, Christina, listened very carefully, responded quickly. We were in communication with her over a few months, and she never tired of our questions. She had quite a few good suggestions for us, as it was obvious she knew how to handle our requests, travel arrangements etc. in a timely, and good use of our time

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
The Great Wall of China and the Terra Cotta Warriors. The trip would not have been complete without those two areas. Plus the hotels were really wonderful!!! She chose very good accommodations for us.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I booked our flights in and out of Asia myself. I gave us a day in SFO on both ends (we are from the east coast of USA). I would not give us a night in SFO on the way home, it would have been better to just hop on another flight to get home more quickly. Also, I booked through Hong Kong, and we only had half a day there. It would have been better to fly directly to one of the 3 cities we definitely wanted to visit. Didn't have much time in Hong Kong, so I thought that was a waste of time and money.

Best Regards,

Sorry I was so slow to submit my review, but I just submitted it to Zicasso. You did a fantastic job!! We all loved our trip. It was not easy to arrange around our difficult schedule, but it did it with ease!

Many, many thanks, Karen

Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
Ms Zoe Mao did the best job possible of arranging a very complication travel schedule for my husband and I, as well as, our two daughters (one living in China) and one son in law! We had kids coming and going at different times to meet their limited vacation/work schedules. It wasn't easy, but Ms. Mao made it seem easy and understood what needed to be done from our first contact. The other agency that responded (late), didn't seem to really read the information I provided to the website. Clearly, Ms. Mao read and understood what needed to be done to make our vacation work for everyone.

While we went back and forth, Ms. Mao provided excellent advice (yes, the super speed G train was an excellent choice!) and created a memorable itinerary. We knew generally where we wanted to go (Beijing, Xi'an and Guilin), but Ms. Mao filled the itinerary with expected sightseeing (Terracotta soldiers, Forbidden City, etc.), but also fun - bike ride, cooking class, second river trip, incredible Great Wall hike (an experience, not just checking it off the list). At each step Ms. Mao explained options, so I knew that we were selecting the best options for the amount of time that we had (it's a BIG country!). Ms. Mao was able to add another day of sightseeing for us in Beijing (one day notice!) after we changed our mind about having a day off our last day in Beijing (everything was so easy, that we decided we could keep going one more day!).

The hotels Ms. Mao selected were EXCELLENT! The guides and drivers that Ms. Mao selected were fantastic! They didn't just drop you off, they came into the hotel/airport/train station, so if anything was wrong (which it wasn't), they could have handled any problems immediately. There was only one hiccup in the 12 day trip (amazing!), and Ms. Mao went the extra effort to make things right immediately. We could contact Ms. Mao 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, but we also had the names and mobile numbers for all our guides/drivers ahead of time. The guides were all knowledgeable, friendly and engaging which added greatly to our enjoyment. They selected great restaurants and wonderful dishes. The guides were also patient while we took many pictures. We never felt rushed and they re-arranged our lunches twice (without skipping a beat!) because we a bit slow sightseeing. As promised the tours were all no shopping trips.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
The 3 hour hike at the Great Wall.

The Summer Palace.

The Terracotta Soldiers.

The Bamboo Boat (Li River) and the Bamboo Raft (Yulong River) trips in the karst hills area.

The Longsheng rice terraces were amazing. A bit of rain did not stop us - the mist cleared and we were amazed at the view!

The Chinese people were warm and engaging.

Vacationing as a family! It's hard to get everyone in one place because we live so far away from each other, but we did it in China!

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?
The mausoleum stops after the Terracotta soldiers/museum, were just too hot to enjoy. Maybe another time of year, when we could ride bikes around, it would have been fun.

We had an extra night in Yangshuo that might have been condensed with the previous day (one night, instead of two), but not sure how we could have done it differently because many of the things we did in that area were on our most memorable list!
